1. Our Approach to Privacy
GiveUp is built to be a private, personal space for the habits you're trying to give up. Everything you track is stored locally on your iPhone. There is no GiveUp account, and we do not run servers that store your habit data. This policy explains what limited data is involved and which third-party services the app uses.
2. Your Habit Data Stays on Your Device
The habits you track, your streaks, relapse logs, notes, costs, and settings are stored in a local database on your device. We do not receive, read, or store this content on our servers. Deleting a habit, or deleting the app, removes that data from the device.
3. iCloud Sync Uses Your Own Account
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) using your own Apple ID and your private iCloud database — not through GiveUp-operated servers. The handling of that data in iCloud is governed by Apple's privacy terms. iCloud sync is optional and off until you turn it on.
4. App Lock
You can protect the app with Face ID or Touch ID. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS; GiveUp never receives or stores your biometric data.
5. Third-Party Services
GiveUp uses a small number of third-party services for subscriptions and product analytics. These services may process limited technical or anonymous data under their own privacy policies, which you should review separately.
- Adapty — manages in-app purchases and subscription entitlements.
- Amplitude — collects anonymous, aggregate usage analytics such as which screens and features are used; it is not linked to the specific habits you track or to your identity.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — used only if you enable sync, through your own Apple ID.
6. Analytics
Analytics events describe how the app is used in an anonymous, aggregate form — for example, that a habit was created or the mesh screen was opened. They do not include the names of the habits you're quitting, your notes, or any content that identifies you.
7. Notifications
With your permission, GiveUp can send local reminders and milestone notifications about your streaks. These notifications are generated on your device and can be turned off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
8. Children's Privacy
GiveUp is not directed to children under the age required for consent in your jurisdiction and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Your Rights and Control
Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control of it. You can edit or delete any habit, reset your data, disable sync, or remove the app entirely at any time.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use of GiveUp after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
